CONSULT NOTES | Why We’re Changing the Format of The Consult Podcast
And an invitation to join us for a guest skincare consult!
When we first launched The Consult Podcast, the format was centered around conversations with female founders we admire and work with — a way to highlight their work and introduce them to our community.
That part mattered, and it still does. There are many women building thoughtful, meaningful brands, and there are also excellent podcasts dedicated to interviewing them.
But over time, we realized something important: this isn’t where we do our best work.
What people consistently want from us — including these founders — isn’t an interview. It’s the consult.
They want to hear how we assess skin in real time. How concerns get prioritized. How routines get edited. How decisions are made when everything can’t be addressed at once. The nooks and crannies of clinical thinking that usually stay behind closed doors.
So we’re changing the format.
Going forward, The Consult Podcast will consist entirely of recorded, live skincare consults. Not interviews. Not highlight reels. Just the work.
Each episode will be completely unique, because it’s grounded in the individual. Most people don’t have one single concern — they’re navigating multiple issues at once. This format allows us to address skin the way it actually shows up in practice: layered, nuanced, and personal.
Because of that, episodes won’t be organized around a single topic or ingredient. Instead, listeners will hear how we move through competing priorities, tradeoffs, and constraints — and how clarity gets built along the way.
This shift reflects what we believe is the highest and best use of our time: showing how clinical judgment works, rather than just sharing conclusions.
Right now, this format is also the only way to do a consult with me outside of the clinic setting.
A few brief details:
Consults are recorded remotely
Sessions run approximately 60 minutes
Guests share their current routine and products
Video or voice-only options are available
Names and faces can be kept private if preferred
This podcast is educational in nature and does not provide medical advice
We also value your feedback. If there’s something specific you’d like us to include, explore, or highlight on the podcast, we’re open to that. And if there’s a particular topic or industry perspective you’d find valuable, that’s something we can always build in thoughtfully.
If you’re interested in learning more about being a guest on the podcast, or want details on what that process looks like, you can find more information here.
We’re excited about this transition — and about the opportunity to go deeper, more honestly, and more intentionally.

Love this, Laura!!
